ENCORE! BAND CAMP

Dear Camper:
Welcome to the ENCORE! Band Camp. The staff looks forward to a great week of educational and recreational activities. We are glad you have chosen to spend this week at ENCORE! This letter contains all the final information you will need to prepare for your stay with us. Please go over all the information carefully and keep this letter to help you pack.
Arrival: Registration will take place in Wells Hall from 1:00-3:00 p.m. (Below select #4 for directions to Milledgeville and #5 for a campus map). Please leave all belongings in your car until registration is completed. Your room may be in a different dorm. The key deposit of $10.00 (cash only) will be collected at registration.
Auditions: Auditions will take place in the dormitory, immediately after check-in. Auditions for woodwinds, brasses, and mallet percussion in grades 7-9 will consist of: five major scales (concert Bb, Eb, Ab, F and C), a chromatic scale (one octave or more), and sightreading. The snare drum audition will consist of: five stroke, nine stroke, and long rolls, flam, paradiddle and sightreading. Auditions for woodwinds, brasses, and mallet percussion in grades 5 and 6 will be any two scales and sightreading. The snare drum audition will consist of the long roll, flam, and sightreading.

Conduct Guidelines: Exemplary behavior is expected at all times and no discipline problems of any kind will be tolerated. Students not following camp rules will be subject to early dismissal from the camp with no refund of fee. A copy of the camp guidelines is online for you to print (Select #3 below). The student and parent/guardian should sign the guidelines sheet and bring it to registration.
Meals: Beginning with dinner on Sunday evening, all meals will be provided by Georgia College.

Departure: Students will be dismissed immediately following the 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening concert which will be presented in Russell Auditorium. Your child's performance time will be dependent upon his/her band placement which is determined by Sunday's audition. Students should not expect to leave earlier except in cases of emergency and with permission of the Camp Directors. Students will return to the dorm immediately following their concert to load their belongings. No removal of belongings will take place before the concert.
REMINDER...A key deposit of $10.00 (cash only) will be collected at registration and refunded when key is returned. An additional replacement fee of $15.00 will be assessed at check-out for lost keys.
Additional - The dorm is only 7 years old. We have been instructed to inform you that nothing is to be put on the walls. Some of the walls have recently been repainted and we need to be sure we leave them as we find them. Also, there is a black button in each room that should not be touched. It connects with public safety and is there in case of an extreme emergency. There is a $100 fee for pushing that button accidentally.
